Depending on where you get your car repaired, the part could be replaced with either Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Parts or Aftermarket Parts. Let's discuss the difference, and why our shop demands Certified OEM Car Parts.

Buying OEM Certified Parts

When you bring your car in for repair at Global Collision Center, in Troy, MI, our upmost priority is to restore and provide optimum fit, function, safety, and structural integrity to your vehicle. This is why we only use Certified OEM Parts that were originally designed for your car, and produced by the manufacturer.

​Our I-CAR Platinum Professionals recommend OEM Parts because they are specifically designed and tested to perform and work exactly as the  factory suggests, which helps to maintain the value and safety of your vehicle.

​OEM Parts are also preferred because most come with a manufacturer warranty, which assures our clients long-lasting confidence and a high level of quality assurance.

Choosing Aftermarket Parts

​Aftermarket Parts can be purchased from a variety of different sources, like gas stations or auto part stores. Aftermarket Parts are produced to match OEM Parts, are often cheaper to purchase, but are not necessarily the most reliable, long-lasting solution.

Our shop does not recommend Aftermarket Parts because vehicles aren't originally made with these type of performance modifications. Large manufacturers, such as Ford Motor Company, does not recommend recycled, salvaged, or reconditioned parts because they have not been authorized by their standard testing, and it could increase the risk of crash and serious personal injury.

​The downside to Aftermarket Parts is that there is a wide selection of brands, which can be overwhelming to any consumer because you won't be sure what part is best suited for your make or model.

Most Aftermarket Parts may not come with a warranty, so you could end up spending more money on repairs in the future, if the part does not last.
